Πήλιο – Pelion
Pelion (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pelio) is a beautiful area and mountain in central Greece close to Volos town. Pelion offers an excellent combination of nature and traditional architecture with unique views and access to the surrounding sea. An all year destination with skiing opportunities in the winter, swimming in the summer, hiking in well preserved stone trails (kalderimi) and sightseeing at all times. Selecting less busy periods and villages, can be a great escape into nature and traditional architecture.
View of Vyzitsa (Βυζίτσα), a very-well preserved and protected by law traditional village. Built at 540m, there are many of the typical Pelion three-story traditional stone houses (αρχοντικά).

Most of the houses were built around 1800.

Pelion is well-known for its stone paths (καλντερίμι – kalderimi), which used to connect the various villages. Many of them are still well-preserved and thanks to the efforts of active groups, they are well signed.
A very nice, easy hike in South Pelion is the one starting from Glaykos (Γλαύκος) village and goes down to the sea to Milina (Μηλίνα).
Neoclassical type of traditional houses can also be seen in Glafkos.

Churches can be found everywhere.
“Wild” nature can also be seen.
